During the last decade and despite the recession, the number of passengers using Palm Springs International has grown 55.5%. Last year alone, the passenger count jumped more than 14% to almost 1.73 million, a blistering pace by industry standards. Local officials say that Coachella Valley tourism, now valued at $5.3 billion annually, and Palm Springs, the one-time Hollywood party town that has remade itself into a trendy destination, have fueled the surge in airport traffic.

The entrance to Escena Palm Springs has a new addition. Yucca Valley artist Steve Rieman’s kinetic sculpture, “Wind Wave” has become an official part of the 450-acre master-planned development comprised of an 18-hole golf course, dining, residences and additional land slated for future residential and hotel development at the Southeast corner of Gene Autry Trail and Vista Chino.
The Escena Golf Club clubhouse draws inspiration from Palm Springs’ iconic midcentury modern architecture, but adds elegance with building and design materials such as beautiful woods and rich upholstery fabric. California Golf News & Travel magazine featured the clubhouse in a fashion spread in this month’s edition.
